A bit about me

I recently moved to Whitstable with my husband, our boisterous 2 year old daughter and slightly harassed cat! I'm a keen reader and love the outdoors, which is brilliant because there's no better place to be out and about than Whitstable!

As a child, I was diagnosed with dyslexia and really struggled to keep up in class. Traditional teaching methods didn't work for me. After switching schools to one with a specialist learning and development unit, I discovered the power of one to one learning. It gave me a chance to gain confidence and discover a love of literature. I went on to study English Literature at Canterbury Christchurch University.

Experience

Whilst training to be a veterinary nurse in London, I worked as a private GCSE English tutor, a job I found hugely rewarding.

I also worked in London as a teaching assistant for Protocol education.

I help GCSE students gain confidence when analysing and discussing texts in class. I also work with students to create good exam technique and revision methods.

Every child is unique and will approach tasks and learn differently. Therefore, sessions must be tailored to cater for their learning needs.

I always offer a free initial session to better understand each individuals' requirements before creating a lesson plan.

How it works

Lessons are 60 minutes long but are broken down into different stages with short breaks in between to allow the child to reset and refocus.

Each lesson would typically include a reflection and refresher on the previous week, a warm up exercise, a chance to discuss any problem areas, followed by an activity such as an exam style question to work through and discuss.

Pricing

First session is free.

Single session - £25

Block of 5 sessions - £100.
